Van Life
Mixed Media on Canvas | 14in x 14in

Inspired by the free-spirited essence of 1970s California and the modern-day adventure culture of van life, this piece was created in a single sitting—a spontaneous exploration of what it might feel like to embrace life on the road full-time. It’s a concept that lingers in my mind, something I envision for myself at some point, but for now, my closest experiences have been living in tiny houses and small, thoughtfully designed spaces. I have a deep appreciation for environments that strip away excess, inviting presence, movement, and an expansion beyond comfort zones.
To embody the van life flow is to surrender to change—to recognize that movement is the natural rhythm of life, while stagnation is the true illusion. On the road, adaptability is everything, and that’s why I have such deep respect for the van life culture—the art of making home wherever the road leads.
Like most of my pieces, this one emerged in layers. The first foundation was collaged receipts, left to dry in the sun for a week, allowing them to absorb warmth and time, resulting in a soft vintage tint. From there, I built upon the canvas—adding a van-life illustration, stenciling stars, and weaving in details with Posca markers, letting the story of the VW van unfold naturally, revealing its own journey.

Van Life is ready to find its next road, its next home...
