Light is Dark, Dark is Light
48x36 in | Latex Paint & Black Ink on Canvas

This piece carries the essence of transformation—painted, repainted, and layered over countless times, each version a lesson in surrender. At one point, I explored illustration, attempting to draw a snake. It emerged too cartoon-like, so I painted over it, letting the piece sit in uncertainty. The textures, remnants of past layers, revealed themselves under shifting light—whispers of the process, the unseen beneath the seen.
One day, I took the canvas outside, placing it on my garden tarp, painting under the sun—one of my favorite rituals, where light codes and prayers infuse my work. As I worked, a realization emerged: light and dark are not opposites but mirrors of the same truth. There is nothing to fear in the unknown, only depth waiting to be seen.

A piece like this in your space serves as a potent reminder—of duality, of balance, of the beauty in both shadow and illumination. A reflection of the self, always evolving.
