Nof Yam
Latex and Acrylic Paint on Canvas | 58x38 in

While walking home from a Buddhist meeting, I stumbled upon this canvas by the side of the road. Initially, all I saw was the quality of the canvas—it had a thick, sturdy width that immediately caught my attention. A thicker canvas like this is valuable because it provides durability and stability, making it ideal for heavy layers of paint and mixed media work. Its structural integrity ensures it can withstand the weight of thick acrylics and latex without warping, preserving the artwork for years to come.
Noticing the canvas’s potential, I talked myself into carrying it on my head like a surfboard for the 25-minute walk ahead. I decided to forgo music and focus entirely on the moment—alert, present, and in a playful state of mind. Most of the walk was along a paved path, so the experience became quite mindful as I balanced the canvas on my head, fully immersed in the process of carrying this ‘bad boy’ home.
Though I believe the canvas may have originally been a painting of flowers, it was the potential of the blank surface that intrigued me, inviting transformation.

From that point, Nof Yam emerged, taking on new layers of meaning and energy.
